Driver Improvement (DIP)

What is the difference between the online program and the classroom program?

The online course is the same course that you take in a physical classroom, except that the online class is cheaper and more convenient. You can read the same material online at your own pace compared to sitting through 2 to 8 hours classroom lecture.

Does the online program meet Maryland MVA requirements?

Yes. AllSafe is approved by the Maryland MVA to give this program online and in classroom. Taking this course online is as good as taking it in any classroom.

How much does the online program cost?

Driver Improvement program online is $60. Classroom DIP is $65. Cash or money order at the time of testing.

See our full fee schedule.

Can I take DIP online if I'm under 18?

No. Drivers under 18 cannot take the online Driver Improvement Program.

See how to complete DIP for step-by-step instructions.

How can I complete the online program?
  1. Register online and log on
  2. Complete all five required units for the Driver Improvement Program
  3. Schedule your in-person final exam at an AllSafe location

How much time do I need to complete the course?

The course can be completed at your own pace. You can log on and off as many times as needed. However, you must be mindful of your due date — the course must be completed by your due date.

If my due date is the 22nd and I finish on the 21st, will the MVA be notified on time?

Yes. We transmit your completion information electronically, directly to the Maryland MVA the same business day you complete the course. You also receive a completion certificate for your records.

Completion means finishing all required units, passing the online quizzes, and passing the final exam with 80% or better at our testing site.

3-Hour Safe and Sober

What is the 3-Hour Safe and Sober Education Program?

The Maryland MVA-approved 3-Hour Alcohol and Drug Education Program (Safe and Sober) is required for some drivers who hold a valid license from a foreign country and need a Maryland driver's license. AllSafe offers this program online with four modules and MVA certificate transmission upon successful completion.
